Childhood

I have been singing since I was a child. More or less, this is the story of a lot of singers, as there is always someone in each singer's family who says that we were singing even before talking.

It's a myth. In my myth, all the family recognized that my granny had a beautiful voice and they said I inherited it. "This child is not normal", said my grandfather, "she's shouting all the time!" Ah ah, how right you were, grandpa.

I had a wonderful childhood.
During my first years, I remember singing as young as five in the Church choir with my dad; he was also singing in a male choir and he was sharing his passion teaching the family all the mountain songs he loved. That enhanced my passion for singing the notes that harmonically were fitting well.

Go on holiday in Summer on the Valle d'Aosta mountains, meant singing all the time, in the car, walking, sometimes they were putting me on a table asking to sing something. Ah, those holidays

Here there is one of my beloved songs, "La Montanara"

"Mia damina"

This is what I sang during a Carnival when I was 9 years old, my first 'en travesti' role ever.

"Mia damina - Cavalier
Una danza per piacer
Mi conceda cosicche'
Si muova lesto, lesto'l pie'.

"Grazie tante per l'onor
che mi fate con fervor
Son contenta di danzar
Che mi sembra di sognar"

I was singing at any opportunity. At school, I played the wooden recorder reproducing the songs I liked.

Then, taking part in activities with the scouts, I was attracted by someone who was playing the guitar and singing, and I decided to learn it.

At 16 years old, as many things changed, my passion became stronger than ever.

I participated to a workshop for actors, I decided to take guitar lessons to learn finger picking and I joined the Poliphonic Choir "Viotti" in my town, directed by a mythical maestro, Vittorio Rosetta.

My friend Cinzia and I formed a duo to sing a special repertoire of historical and modern folksongs, including songs of protest and social justice, inspired by Joan Baez and other musicians.
